Plot[]

Opening: A pile of snow falls off a branch, and soon, a snowstorm begins. A girl with black hair and long white robes stands in the storm and makes noises akin to crying.

Train

The gang ride on a train to the skii inn

The gang decide to go on a skiing trip at Satsuki and Keiichirou's aunt's traditional Japanese inn. While waiting for Satsuki's distant cousin, Miyuki, to pick them up, they marvel at the amount of snow in the area. After a while, Miyuki never arrives, so instead, the gang catch a bus which drops them off at the inn. When they arrive at the inn, they are initially scared by the unique decor, which includes a stuffed bear, a stuffed bird, and a ghostly looking woman.

They then meet Satsuki's distant cousin, Yuki. Yuki takes them to their room and shows them Bloodstained Lake from a window. She explains that the lake is so named because every time a bad event happens, the lake's waters become red as blood. For that reason, Yuki is afraid to look at the lake. The gang assure her that it is very blue, though Yuki decides to leave. Leo declares that the room has a likely-to-be-haunted atmosphere and begins searching for talismans, but he finds nothing. During their reconnoiter, they meet their distant aunt, the innkeeper. In the midst of conversation, nobody notices a red spot slowly growing in the middle of the lake.

Bloodstained Lake

Bloodstained Lake is now red

Since they have not yet had lunch, the gang sit down to eat. They comment on the carefree nature of the inn; since the employees are on a company trip, they can stay there for free. Just then, Yuki arrives with bad news. A photo of Miyuki is now covered in blood, and Bloodstained Lake has turned red. Yuki wonders if Miyuki died in the lake and wants to take Yuki with her to the Ghost World. The gang decide that they need to notify the police, but the phones do not work.

Miyuki suddenly appears in the doorway, drenched in water. Yuki quickly runs to block the door to ensure she does not get in. They successfully block her entrance, but Miyuki heads towards the back door. Yuki runs to stop her, with Hajime following closely. However, he is lured into a room with a newspaper clipping and locked inside it. Back near the main door, the animal decor is revitalized. They swipe at the gang minus Hajime. Yuki leads the gang outside since Miyuki has gotten inside the inn. Now safe, the gang realize that Hajime is missing. Yuki assures them that when they defeat Miyuki, he should be safe, so there is no need to worry. Forming a circle around the picture of Miyuki, she instructs them to recite a spell to secure their safety.

Hajime points out the real ghost

Hajime points out the real ghost

As Yuki chants the spell, a snowstorm unexpectedly begins. She urges for the gang to hurry up and recite it, but they are too afraid to continue, when Miyuki appears. At that moment, Hajime emerges from the snowstorm and yells for them to stop. He shows the gang the newspaper clipping he found inside the storage room: Yuki Shirogane, age 10, stumbled and plunged into the lake and died forty years ago. Yuki regretfully recounts her death before cutting to the point; she wants Miyuki to come with her.

The gang are slowly frozen in Yuki's snowstorm before Satsuki realizes they should chant the spell from earlier, albeit with Yuki's newspaper clipping in the center. They form a circle and recite it, putting Yuki to sleep. After the ordeal is over, Miyuki's picture and the lake's color return to normal. A bell also dissipates.

Later, Miyuki explains what happened: she was walking on the usual path to pick the gang up when she got lost in the blizzard. She also tells them more about Yuki's backstory. The gang realize how lonely Yuki likely was and think about her as it starts to snow.
